This enhancement prints bar codes on standard printers without leaving
the regular ACCPAC programs. It can print based on item groupings, receipts,
special characteristics, or individual items. It can also print bar codes
for all the items on a purchase order awaiting receipt. The number of
labels printed can be specified for all items, or printed based on the
in hand quantity or receipt quantities. This enhancement ships with some
third party software for which the source code is not included but is
available. Depending on the configuration used, it may be necessary to
use a third party product such as Writebar.
The Bar Code Printing tool includes two methods of printing barcodes.
The first method is to use the included utility, (toprtbar) to print Code
39 and 2 of 5 Codes on Epson printers and Lasers. If large batch printing
jobs are more common, or printer compatibility is a problem, it may be
better to use Writebar (see Writebar Information included) instead of
toprtbar. Writebar will run on DOS or Unix and supports a wide range of
printers.
Printer Setup:
This setup is only applicable if not using Writebar. If using Writebar,
refer to the Writebar manual for setup instructions. (Skip to section
titled "Select & Print Barcodes") Before the bar codes can be printed,
the program must be configured to inlude the correct printer type. The
two main choices are dot matrix or laser. The dot matrix selection is
designed to work on Epson and compatible printers. Make selections by
using the arrows and the Enter Key. On most systems, the selected choice
is highlighted in blue. The codes will be printed on the printer selected
as the label printer in the system setup.
- Select Bar Code Type: Select either Code 39 or 2 of 5. To select
Code 39 press 3 or use the arrow. To select 2 of 5 enter 2.
- Select Printer Device: Enter D for dot matrix or L for laser.
Once the printer type is selected the choices will be provided to enter
the label height and other label specific questions.
- Label Height LPI: Barcode label height in lines. How tall to
print the bar code.
- Density Mode: How dense the barcode should be printed. Experiment
to find the best combination for the printer in use. (How close together
the bars are printed)
- Label Height 6/LPI: Complete label height in lines. How many
lines per label at 6 lines per inch.
- Test Text: Text to print and barcode on the label.
- Test Title: Other text to print but not barcode.
- No. of Copies: How many sample labels to print.
Lasers Only:
- Label Lengths: How many characters at 10 characters per inch.
- No Across: How many columns of labels on the sheet.

- Label Width: How many lines at 6 lines per inch.
- Set Left Margin: Space to left of labels.
Select & Print Barcodes:
Once the printer is setup, the ACCPAC databases can be used to print selected
records. The following choices are provided:
- Receipts Only: "Y" indicates the records to be printed, will be selected
from the inventory receipts file. Only items that have been received
will be printed.
- Last Receipt: Entering a date here will select only records received
on the date specified and after. Items received before the date entered,
will not be printed. This selection only applies if the receipts only
selection above is "Y".
- Include Only (All/Stock only/Nonstock):
- A = Stock and Non-stock
- S = Stock Only
- N = Non-stock only
- Item Number: If a portion of the number is entered, just items starting
with that portion of the number will be printed. If it is left blank
all items meeting the other criteria will be printed.
- Part Number: If a portion of the part number is entered, just items
starting with that portion of the number will be printed. If the part
number is left blank all items meeting the other criteria will be printed.
- Inventory Class: If a portion of the inventory class is entered, just
items starting with that portion of the class will be printed. If the
class is left blank all items meeting the other criteria will be printed.
- Item Misc Code: If a portion of the misc code is entered, just items
starting with that portion of the misc code will be printed. If the
misc code is left blank all items meeting the other criteria will be
printed.
- Labels Per Code (Receipt Qty/On Hand Qty/Specify): Enter the number
of labels per item to print. For inventory receipts it would normally
be the receipt quantity. For a complete printout of inventory items
(one for each item in stock) select Onhand. If a specific quantity is
needed per item, enter "S" and specify the quantity.
- Specified Quantity: Enter the quantity to print per item. This choice
is only used if Specify is selected above.
Once all the selections have been made, the codes will be printed or
stored for Writebar to print. If using Writebar and there is sufficient
memory to run, it will be called to print the selected codes at this time.
