When an item is purchased, it will frequently be purchased in case lots or other packaging unit larger than the unit used for sales. When an item is sold, the sale could be reflected in many different configurations. This enhancement will provide for essentially unlimited numbers of combinations for these conversions. When a sale is entered the unit of pack is selected for the sale. The conversions are automatic and easy to understand.

File Maintenance
Inventory Items

Inventory Item maintenance has been changed to provide maintenance of the units of measure. The prompt at the bottom of the inventory maintenance screen includes a new choice to maintain the units of measure for that item.

The new information determines how the new unit of measure compares to previously entered units, and the standard unit. Room for a description of the unit and a conversion factor, is provided.

This process permits editing of the unit of measure fields until they are acceptable. The conversion factor determines how the particular unit of measure relates to the standard unit.

Transactions
Entering invoices, sales orders and purchase orders proceeds as usual, i.e. select customer, etc. This utility is activated when the cursor reaches the "Unit of Measure (U/M)" field in the detailed entry screen. Depending on the circumstances, several options are possible.

Entry of an item with only one unit of measure is processed in the normal manner. The unit of measure will not be displayed since no selection is necessary. When an item is sold for which the units of measure have been defined, a window will pop up to select a proper unit of measure.

Presence of the unit of measure display is an indication that more than one unit of measure is available. To view the other units of measure, enter a "?" in the unit of measure field and the pop up selection will be provided.

An overlay screen displays all the existing units of measure, and provides the opportunity to select the unit desired.
